not a bad book for beginners - If you read this book and think you know ASP then you are probably mistaken.I came across bits that were not properly explained and i had to work out for myself (which is a good think).he is quite detailed about the setup, but you need to be damn careful about setting up the SQL Serve/Web Server engines. There are no references in the book to what you shld do if things don t work, and the assumption that all will hang together, is misleading if not fatal for a beginner.at the very least you d better know your OS and it s interaction with dB s & IIS.
Very Good Book for Beginners - I knew absolutely nowt about ASP and SQL, after a couple of days I was up and running. Superb book for beginners. If you have some knowledge of programming then it may seem a bit easy going.
Excellent this is the only book you need! - The layout of this book is : Technical discussion, what we want to do and now lets do it. Or put another way: What you need to know, how to apply it and finally do you really understand ? The discussion is pitched at just the right level and the step by step examples ( including now it should look like this pictures ) are superb. This book leads you so easily to the features of Visual Interdev and gives you the confidence to extend. I cannot praise this book enough and feel with Visual Interdevs own help and this book to fall back on you don t need any other book.
Excellent, well-written intro to VI 6! - If I met Andrew Mumford in a bar, I d buy him a drink! I really like his style of writing, and he clearly knows his subject. I used this book to augment short-comings in other VI 6 books I m reading, and I have never failed to understand what is being taught. I had no problems downloading the (excellent) code from Wrox s website, and, overall I learned a lot from this book. Well done, Wrox! One word of caution, though. This book is really a beginner s book. You won t have the knowledge required to pass any MCSDs, but that s why it s got beginning in the title!
Useful Reference - I d been using Visual Interdev a couple of years when I finally decided I d better learn some of the advanced things about the product. I ve gots stacks of Wrox books on various products which I m delighted with, so the choice of another Wrox book didn t require much persuasion. This book is easy to read. I ve awarded 4 stars only because I jump-started rather than read it cover to cover. It feels slightly light in some areas but for a newbie to Interdev I m sure it would be a good purchase. I should ve bought this some time ago.
